Standard weight calibration is not scale calibration
Weight calibration determines each reference mass. Scale calibration assesses the instrument indication under defined conditions. Identify the two services separately when both are needed.

Should weights be cleaned or polished before calibration?
Describe their condition and contamination first. Avoid polishing, adjustment or chemicals that may alter the weights without advice. Use appropriate protective packaging.
Must weights be calibrated every year?
Choose intervals according to use frequency, risk, storage, result history and quality requirements. Do not assign the same interval to every set without assessment.
How does weight calibration differ from scale calibration?
